Ek bandar submarine ke andar
I was finally able to live my idea even though the dream is still pending.
For a while I haven’t been getting any calls from bank agents with unwanted loan offers. So what I had thought of saying after the last such loan call about a year ago or so remained moth balled till last week.
For some time now I have been getting calls from a bunch of people claiming to be from Gujarat asking if I have been into stocks and if I wanted to invest further.
In the last such call I decided to take out the idea that I had originally planned for bank loan offers and modify it to these unsolicited stock advisers.
I replied by saying that I don’t invest and trade in stocks anymore.
What do you do then?
I invest and trade only in submarines.
Oh submarines? But why?
The margin, I said. Stocks mey sub ab kya rakha hai? Sabhi log ab stocks mey ghusey huey hain na. Kuch to alag karna padega na.
And he spoke as if he had heard about submarines as an investment option but that he specialised in equities and bonds. It sounded as if the poor fellow didn’t even know what a submarine was but was trying to sound knowledgeable.
To aap bilkul bhi nahi kartey equities aur bonds mey.
Nahi bhai nahi.
And I spoke as if I have all the time in the world to entertain his call.
Achha to phir main rakhta hoon, he said.
Jaroor, I said, and had a hearty laugh.
Why should only these unscrupulous and unsolicited callers have all the fun?? ๐๐
Coming to my dream, I still hope to go inside a submarine and watch everything with wide eyed wonder. It’s a fascination that started in my childhood when I first saw a shark shaped submersible on the cover page of Tintin and Red Rackham’s Treasure. I have seen most of the films and documentaries on the subject. Bus ab ek ke andar jaana baaki hai.
