You are imperfect at...

I know that it's quite late for me to add this here but I happened to watch #Home last week and what an amazing movie!!

There were moments when I began feeling restless at what seemed like a dead slow pace but then in the end, everything comes together and you are left completely teary eyed and a lighter heart.

There are moments in the film which I would have written and executed differently and maybe would have also edited it a bit more tightly but it's a great film to watch.

Though I don't agree with many of her film reviews where she substitutes her own opinions and prejudice for that of the scriptwriter and director and she believes that only her (subjective) worldview is objective, I would still recommend you watching Anupama Chopra's review of it.

The reason?

She has been able to capture the essence of the film's premise quite well, without leaking the whole plot and the big surprise of a climax the movie moves towards the end of the film. And that saves me a lot of time in this post.

The cinematography and light work is a cinematographer's delight and heaven, to say the least.

And what to say about the background music - crystal clear and uplifting like the clear blue sky after a beautiful rain that washes over you. You will get to experience a bit of it in the trailer.

And I have come to love producer, actor Vijay Babu with every film they come out with from his production company - Friday Film House. The last movie produced by Vijay Babu where he also acted with the highly under-rated and under-utilised actor Indrans (the central protagonist of this film) was Janamaithri - a film that I am still lucky to have my daughter sit with me and watch any number of times since we first saw it last year.

For the un-initiated, I see parallels between Vijay Babu (who plays the role of a psychologist cum Tai Chi teacher in this film) with Dinesh Vijan - the producer of Hindi movies like Hindi Medium, Stree, Mimi, etc.; in terms of their eye to pick good stories and scripts and back them as a producer.

For those of you who may wonder who would name their Malayali children after Oliver Twist of Charles Dickens, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins, watch Anupama Chopra's review of the movie in the link I share below to find the reason their father named them as such.

You will also be surprised about the home's architecture which makes it look like a house in England or Europe. That mystery is also revealed when you watch the film.

Here's to those of us who struggle between the "perfect" image we try and project to the outside world through social media while struggling with our own feelings in insecurity and inadequacy all of which come blazing out at a place where we believe we can be imperfect - our Homes.

Here's the trailer of the movie on Amazon Prime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xrCuNa_zZU

As you watch the trailer, some of you might be intrigued about the story that Indrans told his son Sreenath Bhasi which he doesn't believe. Watch the movie to find out the story for real. For me, that story was the real kicker in this movie - a story that left countless people across the globe teary eyed and inspired.

Here's Anupama Chopra's review of the movie for you to get the basic plot of the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NybvXLMOM-0

And here's what Jaby Koay and Achara Kirk have to say about the trailer in their review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1mrBFx1E2k

Enjoy #Home while you watch it from your home or otherwise.
